Crash between semis closes Highway 16 near Plunkett, Sask.

SASKATOON – RCMP asked drivers to slow down Monday afternoon after emergency crews responded to a collision between two semi-trucks around 1:50 p.m. The vehicles collided about five kilometers west of Plunkett on Highway 16.Both the east and westbound lanes remained blocked off between Highway 20 and Highway 2 late into the afternoon. Police warned drivers to expect detours and delays in the area.Saeed Ahmed was on his way to Yorkton and saw the collision unfold in front of him.“Those were really bad conditions. It was snowing really hard and the road conditions started getting really slippery,” Ahmed said.“I have winter tires on my car, studded, but I couldn’t even go over 50,” he added.Multiple emergency units responded, including Viscount Fire and EMS.RCMP have not released any information related to possible injuries.
