16-year-old arrested after 2 women sexually assaulted in Vancouver Sunday night

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested after two women were sexually assaulted within blocks of each other in the Oak Street area of Vancouver Sunday night.Police were called to Oak Street and West 15 Avenue around 10:15 p.m. after a woman was attacked.She was walking past the Sunshine Market when a man grabbed her from behind. Then another call came in around 10:30 p.m. with reports of a similar incident near Oak Street and West 12 Avenue. A woman was walking her dog when she was grabbed from behind.Both women screamed and ran off when they were grabbed.The 16 year-old boy believed to be responsible for the two attacks was arrested by the police a short distance away.Vancouver Police Department’s Serious Crimes Unit is investigating.VPD spokesperson Randy Fincham says they are investigating four previous assaults in the same area, spanning the period from Feb. 24 and March 3.Fincham says it is too early to tell if the same person is responsible for the previous four incidents.“But given the circumstances of what happened last night, we will be looking at the four previous events as well,” says Fincham.
