‘My son is not an evil man’: Mother of man charged in 14-year-old Edson girl’s murder

A woman who says her 21-year-old son is the man charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 14-year-old teenage girl stood by him online Monday.“Been trying to find the words for a few days. Stuck in hell. Yes, this is my son Tyrell that was charged,” April Brideau wrote on Facebook. “What do people see? What they wanna [sic] see.”“My son is not an evil man. He is one of the sweetest, most gentle, caring man [sic],” Brideau wrote.

Edson RCMP charge 21-year-old man with first-degree murder

Tyrell James Perron, 21, was arrested and charged Friday with first-degree murder after the body of a teen was found in an Edson apartment. He is also facing charges of indignity to human remains and possession of a prohibited firearm.READ MORE: Edson RCMP charge 21-year-old man with first-degree murder In her Facebook message, Perron’s mother said her son was changed by his previous drug use.“What most people didn’t see is that meth messed my son up two years ago and although he wasn’t on it long, it affected something in his brain and this happens to people each and every day.”Police have not released any details about the victim, who Brideau mentioned in her message.“[The victim] was just like family and I really don’t know what happened to cause him to snap like this.“All I do know is that he is my son and I love him more than anything and I will stand by his side always. Don’t be so quick to judge people as it could be closer to your life than you may realize. Your child or your friend or family member have been effected [sic]. Understand there are a lot of mental issues that people foresee each and every day that go unnoticed,” Brideau wrote.“To everyone who has reached out to me in this nightmare, I can’t wake up from, thank you from the bottom of my family’s heart. We are strong and we will get through this somehow. It may take time to answer as it is taking every ounce of me just to hold it together.“[The victim] was an amazing bright girl who lost her life way to [sic] soon. I love you girl. I’m so sorry, sorry. At the end of the day, it’s a horrific event on a minor and that just makes it even worse.”Perron is scheduled to appear in an Edson court March 15.
