Garth Brooks to Make Audience Participation Album, He Announces on Concert Tour

Press Release

Country singer Garth Brooks recently announced plans for his next album, his first since his 2014 release, Man Against Machine. Brooks, well-known for pushing boundaries and innovation, told a Columbus, Ohio audience that he’ll be taking the unprecedented step of including his audience in the album from the very start.

“We’re going to bring everyone in on this new album,” Brooks told the audience at his Columbus appearance. “…songwriting sessions, everything from recording. It’s going to be a blast.” The country superstar has hinted that the upcoming album will be a concept album, and told Billboard that he’ll “stay an album guy.” He professed his admiration for concept albums, suggesting that they may be a way to revive the flagging album recording industry. “I just think we’ve got to hit on the energies that make people want to collect albums,” he told Billboard, making it clear that he believes creating concept albums will do exactly that.

Brooks has also hinted that the new album might include a duet with his late mother, Colleen, with him singing along to recordings made by his mother before her death. “The great thing about technology is she made the records,” he said, “so it’s not out of the question.”

Brooks has been on the road with his Garth Brooks World Tour since late 2015, and he continues to add new dates to those already scheduled. The tour comes on the heels of Man Against Machine, which was his first new studio album in 13 years. Man Against Machine debuted at number one on the country charts in 2014, and was certified Platinum within months of its release.

The concert tour includes multiple dates with Brooks’ wife, Trisha Yearwood, who recently interrupted her husband’s set to tell him he had been awarded the Touring Artist of the Year Award at the American Country Music Countdown Awards show earlier that evening. Brooks adds the award to his 2015 Pollstar honor as top touring country artist for the first half of 2015.

Garth Brooks tickets can be difficult to get, according to many fans, and the addition of Yearwood adds to the ticket rush. Even in cities where Brooks and Yearwood play multiple shows, it’s not unusual for box offices to sell out quickly, leaving fans with no choice but to seek out tickets on the secondary market. Concert ticket resellers, such as ConcertBank.com, feature a revolving inventory of Garth Brooks concert tickets for all upcoming shows, however.
