PCS Bail Bonds Reacts to Over $150,000 Raised for Injured Fort Worth Police Officer

Press Release

PCS Bail Bonds (www.PCSBailBonds.com), Fort Worth, Texas’ most trusted bail bond service, is reacting to the over $150,000 raised for Fort Worth police officer injured in the line of duty.

Laura Pearce, wife of Fort Worth police officer Matt Pearce, was given two checks totaling $153,000 raised in support of her husband. One check was from a fundraiser conducted by 20 Chick-Fil-A restaurants totaling $40,701.31, while the other was from the Mansfield Police Officers Association and is worth $113,171.76. “The Fort Worth community really stepped up and helped the family,” says Paul Schuder, owner of PCS Bail Bonds. “This was a near-tragic situation that put a police officer in the hospital for over a month now. To witness the community react so strongly and give to his family is a reflection of the good people of Fort Worth.”

The money was raised to help with costs associated with Officer Pearce’s recovery after a shootout in March saw him shot seven times and left critically wounded. One suspect, Ed R. McIver, was killed in the shootout, while another, McIver’s son, survived and is currently being held on $2.0 million bail in Tarrant County Jail.

Officer Pearce has now recovered enough that he was able to watch his wife being presented with the checks from his room in John Peter Smith Hospital. Donations also continue to come in, with a total of $85,000 on the GoFundMe page as of this writing. Other fundraisers are also continuing to be planned by the community.

“It’s impossible to imagine the strain this must have put on the family. Having a husband and father fighting for his life at one point, and still fighting even now, must be difficult to deal with,” Schuder concludes. “Hopefully the Pearce family has found some strength in the community and their kindness. Nothing can obviously reverse what happened, but this at least takes away one concern.”

PCS Bail Bonds has been a part of the Fort Worth Community for two decades and continues to serve the Fort Worth community by offering bail bond services to its residents.
