Lady Gaga Gets Standing Ovation After Powerful Oscars Performance

Toward the end of Lady Gaga’s impassioned performance of “Til It Happens to You“, her Oscar-nominated song about sexual assault, a curtain parted onstage, and dozens of grim-faced young men and women stepped forward. But he loves the survivor in me.

“Because of the way that I dress, and the way that I’m provocative as a person, I thought that I had brought it on myself in some way”, she said.
In one of the more shocking results from the 2016 Oscars, Gaga and Diane Warren’s “Til It Happens to You” lost out to James Bond theme “Writing’s on the Wall” written by Sam Smith and Jimmy Napes. “Something I have kept a secret for so long that I was more ashamed of than anything- became the thing the women in my life were the most proud of”.
Lady Gaga pours out her pain and turmoil in a heart-rending rendition of “Till It Happens To You“, in honor of the campus-rape victims.
“It was her show but she made a point to say, ‘It’s our show, ‘” said Sandhu to EW. “You tell me it gets better, in time”, she sang.
She went up and hugged every single sexual assault survivor that was a part of Lady Gaga’s Oscar performance. Gaga had previously revealed in December 2014 that she herself was abused by a music industry colleague, when she was 19.
“I thought it was my fault for ten years”, she wrote in her Instagram post.
And now her performance at the Oscars can be added to the list.
Gaga’s performance reduced viewers to tears.
Vice President Joe Biden also attacked the issue head-on while introducing Lady Gaga. They were featured in “The Hunting Ground“, after they joined several women in filing federal complaints against UNC in 2013, charging that the university mishandled sexual assault cases and underreported crime statistics.
