President Pranab turns down invitation to attend Art of Living’s Yamuna event

Art of Living Foundation has denied the allegation that the event will damage the eco-system of Yamuna, with its founder Sri Sri Ravishankar dismissing it as “joke of the year”.
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) told the National Green Tribunal on Thursday that stopping the Art of Living Foundation’s World Culture Festival to be held here this month will not serve any objective.
Contrasting the significance of the celebration with the Olympics, Shankar additionally said that the NGT report is one-sided.
On March 3, DDA had submitted that it had granted conditional permission for organising the event and had no idea about the magnitude of the programme. Apart from the ecological disturbances and security concerns, what has created the controversy is a petition by environmentalists before the National Green Tribunal. The President has expressed his inability to attend the event.
