Manning Says He Will Miss Pats Fans & Handshakes With Tom Brady

Following the Denver Broncos’ 24-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50, some recurring health issues, and becoming a five-time league MVP, Manning decided it was time.

Manning, one of the most prepared – of not the most prepared – quarterbacks in history is leaving on his own terms, something few athletes can claim.
“There’s something about 18 years – 18 is a good number”, said Manning, who wore No. 18 throughout his pro career.
“There are players who were more talented – but none could out prepare me”.
“I have no regrets”.
“Well, I’ve fought a good fight”. Today I retire… I revere football, I love the game.
“You knew they were a good football team”.
Indeed, Manning choked up several times, especially when he listed all the things he’d miss about football, the flights home after a big win, his teammates.
“It is sad that some people don’t understand the truth and facts”. Manning exits on top, having just won the Super Bowl. “I’m not interested in re-litigating something that happened when I was 19″.
“And as Forrest Gump said, “That’s all I’m gonna” say about that”, he added.
Peyton Manning is going to miss quite a bit about football. Steak dinners after wins. I went hunting with (former Colts center) Jeff Saturday.
Manning’s retirement doesn’t exactly come as a shock.
Quick shuffled into the Colts Pro Shop looking for Manning gear, but the store only sells one Manning item-a small toy depicting the quarterback.
Even when accounting for Cutcliffe’s bias and ties to the Manning family, it’s not as if there isn’t justification for his belief that Manning is the greatest quarterback to play the game.
As for the timing of his retirement, Manning said he felt it was the proper moment to leave the NFL. I have learned a lot through my mistakes, stumbles and losses in football.
Peyton Manning has called it quits. He’s also using his wit to break the ice.
Manning continued in waxing poetic about his years battling against the Patriots over years, nothing that he’ll “miss that handshake with Tom Brady” that he engaged in every time the two quarterbacks faced off over the years.
He said little brother Eli might have broken it had he started all 16 games his rookie year. Plus, his farewell news conference was classic.
He said the two worked together to make sure Manning would get better after suffering a torn plantar fascia in his left foot. Being able to go to a new organization and win a division four years in a row and have the most wins.
