Top moments from the Democratic debate in Flint

Democratic presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT) speaks as Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton looks on during the CNN Democratic Presidential Primary Debate.
Earlier, Clinton echoed calls by her rival for the resignation of Republican Gov. Rick Snyder of MI in the aftermath of Flint’s lead-tainted water crisis.
“The money was there and had to be released in order to save the auto industry and 4 million jobs and to begin the restructuring”, Clinton said.
It was their seventh showdown, and the sharpest clash yet, with the candidates repeatedly interrupting one another and accusing each other of hypocrisy. The Democrats’ faceoff, in comparison, was a more civil if heated affair.
It was a safe bet that the candidates would devote considerable time during their debate to the water crisis in Flint, which got scant attention from Republican candidates when they debated last week in Detroit.
“For a start, not all, but nearly every poll has shown that Sanders versus Trump does a lot better than Clinton versus Trump“, Sanders said.
Ms Clinton, a former secretary of state and first lady, has spoken on the campaign trail of the need for more love and kindness, a contrast to Mr Trump’s rhetoric about his plans to deport illegal immigrants and temporarily bar Muslims from entering the country.
According to campaign finance watchdog, Clinton took in about $260,000 out of a total of $130 million in support from the oil and gas industry as of February 22.
Despite Sander’s emphatic win tonight, Clinton has opened up a big delegate lead and Sanders might have a tough time making up the difference.
Riegle touched on the poisoning of Flint’s drinking water with lead after the city’s water supply was switched to the corrosive Flint River.
Mr. Sanders and Ms. Clinton also explained their religious faith in response to questions from the moderator.
“You talk about corporate greed”, Clinton said.
Clinton has repeatedly criticized Sanders for voting against the Brady bill’s requirement for mandatory background checks for gun purchases and voting for legislation to protect the gun industry from lawsuits.
“I voted to save the auto industry”, Clinton said.
“I think Donald Trump’s bigotry, his bullying, his bluster, are not going to wear well on the American people”, Clinton said.
“I am very proud of being Jewish, and that is an essential part of who I am as a human being”, Sanders said.
Sanders said that suing any gun maker whose weapon ends up in the hands of someone who is mentally ill would effectively shut down gun manufacturing in the nation.
Clinton however remains far ahead in the total number of delegates needed to win the Democratic Party nomination.
Sanders wants to see the transcripts.
“We get into vigorous debate about issues, but compare the substance of this debate with what you saw on the Republican stage last week”, Clinton said.
“I’d like for them to take a couple days and live at this wage and with the water conditions we’re living in”.
“The governor should resign or be recalled and we should support the efforts of citizens attempting to achieve that”, Clinton said.
