A woman accused of murdering a child in her care and brandishing the child’s severed head outside a metro station claims that “Allah ordered” her to carry out the act.
When asked by a reporter outside the courtroom Wednesday why she killed the child, Bobokulova, who did not wear headscarf this time, replied “Allah ordered” as she walked by. She appeared to have waited until the parents and an older child had left the apartment before killing the younger child, the statement said. Russian news agencies report that police have arrested a woman who was waving the severed head of a small child out…
During questioning while in custody she said the motive for the murder was her husband’s infidelity, RT reported.
Moscow investigators said the murdered child was three or four years old and that the nanny had killed her in the family’s apartment in the Russian capital before setting fire to the premises and fleeing. A large number of police vehicles were deployed to the scene but didn’t immediately intervene amid fears she might be wearing a suicide vest.
Earlier that day, the decapitated body of the child was found by firefighters in a burning apartment nearby.
“I saw that it was indeed a head”, she told the independent channel.
The child’s parents said that Bobokulova had been working as their nanny for 18 months.
Law enforcement sources told Interfax news agency the suspect is 38-year-old Gyulchekhra Bobokulova, an immigrant from Uzbekistan, the New York Post reported.
According to one media report, she shouted “Allahu Akbar” – Arabic for “God is greatest”.
Her mother, who works nearby in a wedding shop is said to have collapsed upon hearing the news and remains unconscious in hospital.
