McGregor’s head held high after Diaz defeat

World

Diaz easily stuffed it and took McGregor on a ride to Submission City, where he joined Holly Holm in somberly remembering that jiu-jitsu is no fucking joke.

Conor McGregor has taken to social media for the first time since his shock defeat to Nate Diaz at UFC 196.
Though nothing’s been announced for McGregor’s next fight, it’s likely he’ll go back down to the 145-pound class. Him and Nick have that kind of style where they can take it and remain in there and remain in your face.
The Notorious One promised when he burst on to the UFC scene that he and his team weren’t there to take part, they were there to take over.
“I knew it was going to be a slow start for me”.
Responding to UFC announcer Joe Rogan’s question “You just shook up the world, how does it feel?” a grinning Diaz said: “I’m not surprised mother******”.
But the ear-splitting din that greeted the arrival of Diaz and McGregor was evidence of what most had come to see.
“I have absolutely none [regrets]”.
Still, McGregor showed heart in a lot of ways in the buildup to this fight.
Holm tried fruitlessly to defend the now sunk choke, and flailed for a moment before she took a nap courtesy of the new Women’s Bantamweight Champ, Miesha Tate. This is the game. Win or lose, up to a point. But I will never shy away from a challenge. Whenever he’s back, it will be at featherweight, he said. “Nate was smart, he lost that first round but I think he did it on objective….” I’m coming for it and I’m getting my belt. I’m not saying everybody should be Conor McGregor (that would be obnoxious as all hell), but I’m saying they could stand to go out on a limb more. Nate then caught McGregor’s kick and threw him down, but the Irish managed to sweep to top position gave Diaz a few ground-and-pound.
The fast-talking 27-year-old from Dublin hit Diaz hard and often from the get-go. He had a chance to show up and didn’t. I’ll still be here when you wake up with the highest PPV and the gate.
“That’s the sign of a loser”, he said. Before she was defeated by Holm, Rousey had won her last three fights in just 64 total seconds. We can either run from adversity, or we can face adversity head on and conquer it. That’s what I plan to do.
Now it’s going to be fascinating to see what the UFC has planned for McGregor, considering this insane ride has come to an end. Those are the kind of things you’re supposed to say when you’re headlining what may have been the most lucrative UFC event ever at the MGM Grand arena and there are pay-per-views to be sold.
