Santorum: Romney’s Attack Might Rally Some to Vote Against Trump

World

Senators Marco Rubio of Florida, Ted Cruz of Texas and Ohio Governor John Kasich made the promise despite efforts by party elders to build an anti-Trump coalition of Republican voters to pick someone other than the NY billionaire.

Trump also brought up holding a fundraiser for Romney in 2012, and said the hundreds of guests on the rainy-day event “ruined my carpet”.
Donald Trump assured American voters Thursday night that despite what Marco Rubio had suggested, there was “no problem” with the size of his hands – or anything else.
Said Trump at the debate: “He hit my hands”.
It’s a far smaller field than the 17 Republican candidates that began the race for the 2016 presidential nomination, but one that is still splintered between the incendiary NY businessman and three experienced politicians.
Romney’s speech, an unheard-of attack by a former party candidate for the nation’s highest office, signaled a state of desperation inside the party establishment.
Anti-Trump forces have a short window of about two weeks for stopping the caustic businessman, who has accumulated 319 of the 1,237 delegates needed to win the nomination at July’s Republican national convention.
Stephen Colbert has spent the past few weeks coming to the realization that President Trump might happen, and it’s a concern he now shares with the Republican party itself. “Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud“.
“(Rubio) may be heartened by results in Minnesota, where he won, and in Virginia, where he closed the polling gap to come in a close second place”, Mahaffee added, referring to Super Tuesday. He dramatically shifted his tone in the last debate and unleashed a torrent of criticism on Trump.
His sparring with Trump deteriorated into a weeklong series of tit-for-tat insults and taunts on everything from bed-wetting to bad tans.
Lovers of the Minnesota-based chain hammered Rubio online.
The Detroit debate was one more opportunity for Rubio and Cruz to try to slow Trump’s momentum.
Cruz also questioned Trump’s conservative bonafides.
Cruz is urging his GOP rivals to “prayerfully consider” dropping out of the race to give him a clear shot at the front-runner.
But Rubio persisted: “The answer is he’s not going to do it…”
For those option to watch on TV, the debate will air live from 9 p.m. ET to 11 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT to 8 p.m. PT on Fox News.
