CAPE NEDDICK, Maine – The Velveteen Habit, conveniently located just two miles from the quaint village of downtown Ogunquit, ME, will host its second annual Pig Roast in the garden on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, May 29. The event will take place from noon – 5 p.m. outdoors on the grand lawn, overlooking the restaurant’s kitchen garden. Advance ticket purchase is highly recommended, tickets are $30 per person for the pig roast and two beverage tickets.
As part of the leisurely Sunday of food, drink and fun, a bocci ball tournament will begin at 1 p.m. and the winner will walk away with a gift certificate for a 5 course tasting and wine pairing at The Velveteen Habit for two.
The Pig Roast will begin at 2 p.m. The pig is coming from South Berwick’s Breezy Hill Farm and will be roasted overnight in an outdoor brick oven, built exclusively for the event. Attendees can expect traditional sides including potato salad, cole slaw and more.
The Pig Roast will feature select beers from Maine Beer Company and wines will be available for purchase by the glass as well for $6. Draft beer will be $5 a glass.

The restaurant is currently open Wednesday – Sunday, from 5-9 p.m. with a special Happy Hour and a Half with half price on all small plates, the popular TVH burger for $12, and $5 draft beers and $8 cocktails and wines from 5:00-6:30 on weekdays.

The Velveteen Habit, an 18th century farmhouse renovated in the winter of 2014, is an elegant retreat secluded in the woods near Ogunquit, Maine. Owner Benjamin Goldman is a Certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers and holds a degree in Global Wine Studies from the International Culinary Center in SOHO, Manhattan – a degree emphasizing and focusing on wine theory, tasting, beverage-program-development, wine pairing and service. He has traveled extensively to taste wine and spirits in their natural environment both across the United States as well as South America and Europe and is currently studying to pursue his Advanced Certification with the Court of Master Sommeliers. Goldman serves as beverage director and the kitchen is managed by Executive Chef Christopher Wilcox.
